Bingo!

History - Both my kids did Marching Band, DD is a senior this year so we are almost done!  As with any extra there is a lot of fundraising involved.  Last year we started hosting a Bingo game to support the Music Boosters.  It is a lot of work but a lot of fun.  This week we are celebrating our 1 yr anniversary!  This was the inspiration behind this.

When I saw this scrapbook paper I knew I had to do something with it.  With our Anniversary approaching, I figured what a better way to commerate that event for the Bingo Board, than to use this cool paper, but how!  Art Canvases were too expensive, finally I found the cork squares.  That is it a small cork board!
I love the old writing and the 'Yell Out Loud'. We are always telling our players that! I just used spray adhesive to glue the paper onto the cork square, perfect fit!

I put the grain of corn on the center square as instructed on the top left!
Then I came up with thumbtacks using Marble Accents and flat thumb tacks.
I printed off the name of our Bingo.  THHS Music Boosters Bingo, then cut each word out to fit on the back of the marble.  Glued the words on, then when they were dry, glued the thumbtacks on.
Tomorrow at Bingo I will surprise the board members with one of these.  I have tags cut out to put on each one!  I am real excited for tomorrow as it has been a year of hard work, but a year of success!

Have a great day,

Toodles,

Laura

My barn doors!

Hi all, hope you are having a great week!  Mine started off a little rough.  Last Thursday I had a tooth pulled, not fun!  And the weekend was a little tough.  But I am back to probably 90% now!  Ready to get back to doing things!

I know you are wondering what the title barn doors refers to.  We have a small, 1600 sq ft, 4 bdrm house.  It was built in the late 1980's and really had no personality at all.  No moldings, no storage, etc.  So what is a girl to do?  Why improvise and read decorating websites!

We did a whole house 'refresh' in 2008.  The main rooms were the kids bath and the stairway.  In the process I also got my office/sewing room redone!  But there was always the issue of small rooms and doors!  Do you realize how much space a door takes up when you open it?  When we redid the small hall/kids bath that is what I ran into.  What to do about the door!  Well here is my solution, a barn door, or sliding door!  Love it!

It is just a regular door that is meant to fit the opening plus a little more.  We added the track on top and covered with molding.  The kids love it and I love that my new jacuzzi tub doens't get banged by the door!

Here is another look.
The hardware we got from Johnson Hardware, here is the link Door.

This now inspired me to add a door where there wasn't one in our master bedroom.  Originally the bedroom opened into the vanity area, there was no door, and it was a huge doorway!  Excuse the mess this was during construction!

Everyone told me I couldn't put a door where there wasn't one!  I pushed on and this is what we have now!

Now I feel like I have a master bath retreat when I close the door!  Love it.

Now for the final one.  Our office/sewing room is at the top of the stairs.  Our stairway opens to the dining/living room so it is seen by all, plus it had double doors!  What is a girl to do?  Why find some awesome hardware and score some cool doors at Habitat's ReStore!  I love my office doors.

Sorry this was such a long post, I guess I just got a bee in my bonnet to post on my doors!
Have a great week

Toodles,

Laura

Finally a Cloche!

I am a little slow on the cloche wagon!  Actually I have been looking for one for a while, but nada.

Then last week I hit Goodwill, they have been hit or miss lately.  But I got lucky.  I found this cloche!
I knew the pieces didn't really go together, but for .99 I was willing to take it!  I love the etched detail on the cloche!

When I got home I remembered I had a set of wooden candlesticks.  I had hubby paint one white when I went to the flea market last Sunday.  Here it is before I distressed and gelled it!

Here is the after.  I sanded a little and used Minwax gel stain in rustic oak.

Then I used my gorilla glue to put it all together!

Added a few treasures and voila!  Love it!

Tomorrow I hit the garage sales with a friend.  Maybe I will find another one!

Have a great weekend!
